Care needs vary from person to person, which is why fees are tailored to individual requirements, meaning families only pay for the support their loved one genuinely needs.
For people who need support with daily life – getting dressed, getting around, managing medication – but who still want to live well and on their own terms. We take care of the practical things so residents can enjoy the rest.
We provide care for people living with dementia, mostly those in the earlier and middle stages. Our approach is calm and consistent – familiar faces, familiar routines, and a home that doesn’t feel clinical. Families tell us that makes a real difference.
Short-term stays designed to provide additional support during recovery, offer companionship, or give family carers time to rest and recharge. Respite residents enjoy the same high standards of accommodation, dining, activities and compassionate care as our permanent residents.
When the time comes, we make sure residents are comfortable, dignified, and not alone – and that their families feel supported too. We’ve done this many times and we do it well. If you’d like to talk to someone about this, call us and ask for Rachel or Alex.
We’ve been in the care home business for over four decades. Here’s what that looks like in practice:
We think a care home should feel like somewhere you’d actually want to live. So we’ve put a lot of thought into the details.
Residents can choose where they dine, whether in The Restaurant, The Bistro, private dining areas or in the comfort of their own room. Freshly prepared meals focus on traditional favourites and home comforts that residents genuinely enjoy; Sunday roast, fish and chips, apple crumble – the sort of meals people actually look forward to.
There’s something on every day. Mel, our Activities Coordinator, runs the programme from The Bistro – everything from gentle exercise and reminiscence sessions to games, crafts, and regular coffee mornings for residents and their families. Films in the Cinema Room on Sundays. Trips out to Burnby Hall Gardens and Allerthorpe Park when the weather’s right.
The landscaped gardens are an important part of everyday life at William Wilberforce, offering space for fresh air, relaxation, outdoor visits and gentle activity throughout the seasons.
And if residents ever need anything, whether it’s a particular drink, a favourite cereal or simply a little extra help, our team is always close by and happy to assist.
The best way to understand what makes The William Wilberforce special is to visit in person.
Spend time exploring the home, meet the team, enjoy the gardens and experience the atmosphere for yourself over a complimentary lunch or afternoon tea.
Whether you’re looking for immediate support or simply beginning to explore care options, we’re always happy to answer questions and help in any way we can.
